Moral ablility (free will):
In salvation . . .
“Whosoever will, may come” is a statement of permission, not of ability.
Jhn 6:44

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

The will is of no account . . .
Jhn 1:13

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Rom 9:16

So then [it is] not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
The human will is of no account in sanctification . . .
Phl 2:13

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.

Rom 3:20

Rom 11:7

Because they became moralists/legalists….
Rom 9:30
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
Rom 9:31
But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

Rom 9:32
Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

However, by our union with Christ we are sanctified….
Rom 6:6

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
And produce fruit….
Rom 7:4

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, [even] to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
And fruit is not action (to do), but character (to be)….

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
