Promises of Prayer
Matthew 7:7-9
Ask- it will be given
Seek- you will find
Knock- it will be given to you
Matthew 6:5-6
Pray in secret- He will reward you.
John 15:7
If you abide in me and my Word ask what you wish and it will done- for the Father is glorified that you bear much fruit.
John 14:13,14
Ask in His name that the father may be glorified. I will do it.
Great reminder of the promise of prayer. I've been struggling with sin- let's just say what it is- SUBMISSION! Really- it's so much more than that but that's a heavy burden in itself- I want to enjoy submitting as God would have me to for His glory- it's all for the best- ANYWAY- there is no way to be defeated in this because of all of those promises I mentioned earlier- God will work this out in me for His glory! Amen!
Next- the sermon was Phil. 3. LOTS of thoughts to ponder there. The sermon opened with the contrast of the two prayers (prayer again)- the pharisee and the tax collector- the quote said- "Two men praying, two different destinies." One knows all things are Christ- the other things about himself. Anyway- much more to think about but Hope wants to play Webkinz.

Grocery Pick-Up
OK- so it wasn't perfect.
We received 1 banana and 1 apple,. We obviously need to reread the proper way in which to purchase produce.
I accidentally clicked on sour cream chips instead of barbecue. However, if I would have carefully looked over my list before I submitted it, I would have caught my mistake.
Next, we picked up our groceries at the Newburgh Schnucks. They rarely ever do pick up- so they were not familiar with the check out process for Express Connection (the name of this program). It took awhile for them to familiarize themselves with the program, but they were very nice and reassured me that they would be ready next time.
They did say that the Washington Ave. store does pick-ups all of the time. We may try this store next time since it is as close to us as the Newburgh store.
Finally, there were two items on the list that we did not receive. Not sure why- but if I would have checked my grocery receipt with my computer list print out- we may have been able to have the problem fixed as well.
OK- some of you out there might think we're crazy- but we're going to try it again. If we can work out the kinks- I think we might have a nice time-saver on our hands.
(Yes, Wall-E comes to my mind.)

Trying something new
OK- Will and I hate grocery shopping- I mean really hate it.
So, Will came up with a solution; we'll see how this works.
We've contacted the local grocery store online- placed our order and we're going to pick it up- all for the low pick-up fee of $7.00. I spend $7.00 alone in impulse purchases- the time spent in line- etc. Also, I can see exactly how much I spend before I buy- so if I want to stick to the budget and I've spent too much- then I take off some of the chocolate and sodas- and voila- I have a nice little purchase. Believe me- I would eat $7.00 less NOT to have to go to the grocery store. So far, we've had to learn our way through the system- but we're seeing that it will be very easy to place the order.
NOW- we'll just pick it up and see if we placed our order properly and Christy and Will will be grocery shopping free- yippee!

Sunday's Points to Ponder
In Sunday School, we were reminded of the importance of God's Word.
I liked the different ways people "explained" inspired, God-breathed:
Divine CPR
The Breath of God
Gives Life
It is Life
The Lord was gracious to send these profound reminders my way. The text for Sunday's sermon was "I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ." I have been looking to myself lately (an old ugly habit) and seeing my inability to love Christ alone. As I look to myself, I despair. Of course, I have no ability to please Christ. However, as I keep bemoaning my sin- it is like what I am really saying is that I want to find something within myself that is "good" enough and that is pride. I'm fighting the death of the flesh. So, by God's grace His Word will give me life as I move beyond this old habit and look to Christ alone.
And then, I was encouraged by Spurgeon's Morning devotion. He said to Rejoice in Christ alone. Make nothing else your gladness. Why should there be any other gladness? Christ is our strength, our wisdom, our grace, our redemption. Spurgeon reminded me that the people of old would write songs of joy to express the triumph of their God. So, perhaps, if the Lord is kind, I should write a song of the triumph of the Lord in my life. This should help me to focus upon Him and what He has done, for as I look back any good thing in my life is His blessed grace in every way.
Finally, I read of Joseph. I LOVE how he stands before Pharoah who says- I hear you can interpret dreams. And Joseph says, It is God who does so.
Perhaps I can think on this thought throughout the day when I see the sun rise, when I eat my food, when my children obey or when I must discipline, or when I'm tempted toward vanity. . .
It is God. . .

Faith
When Faith came home on Sunday and tried to turn on the lights after the power outage I could hear her saying, "Come on lights. I know you can do it. Come on."
Then, today after the electricity came back on she said her prayer at the breakfast table. "Thank you God for the food, lights, and television." Cute, but sad- oh, so sad.
Finally, during circle time, Faith pointed to a picture of an angel in the Bible and said to me, "See God. He catches me, doesn't He?" Oh, yes, I pray. I pray that God will catch you, Faith. (And, by catch you, I mean catch you in His grace- catch you from the pit and into His arms.)
By the way- the best storybook Bibles for little ones are The Big Picture Story Bible and The Jesus Storybook Bible. We love them and learn so much from them.

My messy little girl
I went to Lowes- got sand and filled the sand box- I thought it was a good mom moment- the minute Faith saw the sand she began to play so I went inside and began to clean. A few minutes later she came inside with a box of sand and said she had been putting sand on the flowers. Noooooooo- I thought- I had worked so hard in the hot, hot sun placing 20 bags of sticky black mulch (which stains) around the perimeter of the house. I hoped that she had not messed up my efforts. Well, here are the pictures. It really wasn't that bad- but not the best mom moment, after all.
The picture of Hope is just standard at this house- if one goes out to see our dog, Chris- he will either stand on his hind legs and wrap is front legs around you to give you a hug or he will just sit in your lap.
Pictures
Just a few more pics of the house. Someone mentioned that I did not have a picture of my kitchen- so here it is. The only clean pic that I have.
The other picture is Hope's room.
Also, we have a picture of the rose bush that my parents sent me. I planted it just HOPING that it would continue to grow and bloom. I have a SAD track record with flowers. Anyway, here is the first bloom and it's been blooming like crazy ever since. There have been about a dozen roses on the plant for some time. It's like receiving a dozen roses every day. Thanks Mom and Dad. Unfortunately the wind storm blew the flowers off, but there may be a few more before the cold weather sets in.
Finally, a pic of the kids playing together happily- one of my favorite things.
Finally
I think I'm finally back to blogging. It's been a while. No real excuses.
On Sunday, we had a windstorm. We came home from church and our trampoline had traveled across the neighborhood and stopped directly before it slammed into a brand new house. Thank the Lord. Our swingset collapsed. I opened the side door of our garage so I could put the debris from our yard into our garage and what do ya know but a sudden gust of wind blew into our garage and blew out the garage door. Word to wise: NEVER OPEN THE SIDE DOOR OF YOUR GARAGE DURING A WIND STORM. However, God was (is) good again in that we were able to salvage the door. It actually looks fine and we hope it works fine. The electricity just came back on last night- so we'll see.
Well, I should be posting pictures and stories and more- today is my goal!
