BOOKS are helpful! Here are a few:
All of Grace by Charles Spurgeon
The True Christian's Love for the Unseen Christ
The Pattern of Christ
And I hate to admit it (just because I don't want to put "blame" or anything like that on the husband), BUT Will read these books and it has been helpful to our marraige and to our family.
Family Driven Faith by Vodie Bak. . .
Manly Dominion (Womanly Dominion was good, too)
The Complete Husband
OK- I'm sorry I'm not checking on the authors- I would actually burn a few calories by going up the stairs. . . but being pregnant I'll just use that excuse.

Tuesday's Talk
I wanted to post thoughts from Saturday's prep for worship. I couldn't help but think of this letter that I received from a friend- I don't know- I guess the thoughts of "doing without" made me think more of the sufficiency of Christ and the glory of God- and what our pursuits in this life really should be.
Yikes- I lost the letter- but if you check out her blog- and read the "about me" section and some of the other things she's written, I think you'll know what I mean. http://www.megrachelle.blogspot.com/.
Next, the words from this hymn:
Depths of Mercy, Can There Be
"I have spilt is precious blood
I have trampled the Son of God
Filled with pangs unspeakable
I who yet am not in hell
If I rightly read Thou heart
If Thou all compassion art
Bend thine ear in mercy bow
Pardon and accept me now
Jesus speaks and pleads his blood
He disarms the wrath of God
Now my Father's mercies move
Justice lingers into love."
Just the love of Christ overwhelms us to worship.
Finally, I always like "serious cleaning" because I find stuff. I found a book entitled The Pattern of Christ. It's about the beattitudes. Good stuff. (I think it's a loaner from a friend, so I'm extra glad I found it.)
I love it's description of REAL Christianity in contrast to pharisees/legalists. Here are a few quotes:
"As we watch righteousness being clothed in the flesh and blood of Christ it ceases to be cold and stern and begins to exert the attraction of the desirable. Righteousness moves out of the frozen wisdom of the book of Proverbs into the neighboring poetry of the Song of Song."
"What [Christ] looked for was not the moral achievement, but the moral desire; not the sense of 'having arrived' religiously, but wanting to be on the way; not the claim to possess God, but to hunger after him."
"The only requirement is the honest desire for God, a genuine hunger after the good life he has revealed in Christ. Christ did not found his church for whose who were already satisfied, but for those who were [are] not."
"I may be quite willing to admit that I am not righteous. . . but do I really hunger and thirst after these things?"
"It is not our goodness but our desire for it to which Christ responds. And he responds according to the strength of our desire."
"He looks through the success and failure, the virtues and the vice, the gains and the lapses, and he asks if we really want what he has to offer- HIS righteousness, his life poured out for us. If we hunger and thirst after righteousness, we will be filled." This is an every day, every moment affair.

Thursday's Things that are Helpful
The Old Schoolhouse www.theoldschoolhousestore.com sells a planner. In the planner are loads of templates for organization. I have found the menu planners, the recipes, and the grocery list organizer to be most helpful so far. I'm looking forward to using the record-keeping worksheets in the future.
The planner is a little pricey, but I know that I have access to these organzitional helps forever. Honestly, the grocery list organizer is worth it to me. Also, right now, if you purchase the planner, you also get a year's subscription to the magazine.
Next, The Mailbox www.theeducationcenter.com is a great resource for teachers. It includes fun and crafty ideas for preschoolers and kindergarteners. I'll share some of the fun things we've done tomorrow.
Finally, do you need cardboard boxes? I don't, but if you do or the next time I do, I thought this was a great idea: www.FreeCardboardBoxes.com

Wednesday and we're in pics
Man, we have NOT taken many pictures for a LONG time- this is all that I have from the past four or so months- my inlaws have some and Will has some on his iphone- I'll need to upload those and get busy taking pictures myself because I LOVE pictures.
I know, I know- this outfit is NOT appropriate. However, Hope would create different outfits for Faith- and I was SO shocked #1 that Hope came up with this and #2 that Faith enjoyed prancing around in it. Anyway, I snapped a pic to remember this moment and told them to be more modest :).

Tuesday's Talk
First- go to http://www.skiptomylou.org/ for a little contest. Such a lovely blog.
OK- School has started in the Baumberger home. I love school. Hope and I read together for at least an hour a day. Faith has started preschool. We are all having fun with some of our preschool projects. But we are also at crucial point in which my children need to learn a few things- kindness toward each other, perserverance (when it comes to school- NO STALLING), manners (no interrupting, singing while others are talking), cleaning up after themselves, no pouting. . . um, the list goes on. I have seen where my distractions throughout the day have left my children to themselves- OH do they need the loving, and sometime stern, correction and constant attention of their mommy until old habits are broken and new ones formed. . .
BUT WHAT ABOUT CLEANING MY HOUSE????? What about all of the scrubbing that needs to be done?? What about the walls that are so bad now I might as well redecorate and paint? Wow, let's not even speak of redecorating- that's something my mind has really been preoccupied with- I WANT A PRETTY HOUSE. I'm not a "clean up right after the mess" person YET. I like to take days where I can deep clean all day at my leisure. Leisure??? What's leisure when you're teacher, mommy, wife, and cook?
OK- so the bottom line is this- I was reading to Faith last night- the story of the birth of Jesus. And Jesus was born in a MANGER- a stinky, dirty, animal-hair, bugs, dirt floor, stable- the God of the universe who could have been born in Cinderella's castle with all the gold, jewels, and beauty the world contained. But he chose a humble beginning- surrounded by His creation- man, woman, and animals- and poverty.
Oh- let me love my kids- be a mom and wife- embrace the humility of Christ- get to know it- not the latest issue of Better Homes and Gardens. Don't get me wrong- when the Lord provides the time and talents, I would love to pursue making my "house a home"- but until then, I will pursue humility and being a mommy and not let distractions frustrate the duties God has given me today!

some Sunday lessons
What a BEAUTIFUL day! God's creation is spectacular!
Let's see. I listened to Paul Washer this afternoon. He's provided such a good balance for us lately. . . difficult to explain. . . but it's been good to be reminded of the seriousness of God. . . sometimes I think we're so busy enjoying our "freedoms" that the "freedoms" actually become idols.
Anyway, Washer admonished his listeners to study the attributes of God. Tis true. . . but one thing I found when my focus was only upon the attributes was that I would wander about in despair. No human can withstand such thoughts. Then, the Lord began to bestow great kindnesses to me and reminded me that Christ is the express image of God the "exact imprint of His nature" (Heb. 1). Wow- I can handle the attributes of God in Christ- there is no despair in that fear. . . no, there is respect and love for the sacrifice that justifies my sins before such perfection. Therein lies worship- knowing God BUT knowing God through Christ. How lovely.
Well, thank the Lord for rest on the Lord's Day. . . that's what I'm going to go do :).

I think I'll start tonight-
Matthew 24:30b-31; 25:44
"they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call , and they will gather his elect from the four winds. . . Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."
Come thou fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Oh to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be
Let thy grace Lord like a fetter
bind my wandering heart to thee.

More Posts
I don't know how I ever had time for facebook or blogging. It just seem like time flies. Anyway, I'll try to squeeze in a quick post.
Unfortunately, I'm not an optimist. And often when it comes to my children I am only thinking about the areas in which they need to improve. But sometimes the Lord is kind, and lets me see my kids in their cuteness. I look at them and do not have thoughts about the lessons I must pour into them, instead I see the gifts God has given them. The other day, I had one of those moments with Hopey. She came in after a walk with her dad. She had a hat on-cute as can be. She had a big smile on her face- so content hanging out with her dad. It was one of those "moments" and I wanted to catch a pic of it- as soon as a brought out the camera, she started breaking out into silly poses. Again, just my fun little girl. How I thank God for her.

The Breakfast Song
TOO FUNNY FOR WORDS- that is what my friend says, and I must agree. What is even funnier is that it's for real- it was broadcast on a local am morning news show. You've got to YouTube it- I'm not savvy enough to get a link to it, but if you have time- youtube the breakfast song.
goodness- it's been so long since I've posted- I've almost forgotten how to. . .

Good Hymn
We Have Not Known Thee as We Ought Words: Thomas Benson Pollock, 1889 Tune: ©1997 Bruce L. Johnson. All Rights Reserved
We have not known thee as we ought, nor learned thy wisdom, grace and pow'r; The things of earth have filled our thought, and trifles of the passing hour. Lord, give us light thy truth to see, and make us wise in knowing thee. and make us wise in knowing thee.
We have not feared thee as we ought, nor bowed beneath thine awesome eye, Nor guarded deed and word and thought, remembering that thou art nigh. Lord, give us faith to know thee near, and grant the grace of holy fear. and grant the grace of holy fear.
We have not loved thee as we ought, nor cared that we are loved by thee; Thy presence we have coldly sought, and feebly longed thy face to see. Lord, give a pure and loving heart, to feel and own the love thou art. to feel and own the love thou art.

Spurgeon Quote
"We will this year gather celestial fruits on earthly ground, where faith and hope have made the desert like the garden of the Lord. Oh for grace to feed on Jesus and to eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan this year!"
